Considered itself a colonial monument, the city of Tepic, is surrounded by majestic mountains that have witnessed numerous events of Mexican history. Birthplace of illustrious men like the writer Amado Nervo and the “Niño Héroe” (“Boy Hero”) Juan Francisco Escutia, the city is also is known as Tepic de Nervo in honor to the poet.

There are several meanings attributed to the name of this beautiful town, such as “Corn land”, “Sturdy rocks land” or “Very populated land”.
